Manchester United 3-0 Leicester City: Player Ratings
Manchester United cruised to a 3-0 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford. Here are our player ratings from the game.
(A score of 6 is around average)
Andre Onana 6 – Made himself big to deny Wilfred Ndidi and made another big one to keep Jordan Ayew from finding the back of the net. Produced some nice passes too.
Diogo Dalot 3 – Struggled against Abdul Fatawu. The Leicester winger had the better of him for large parts of the game and it’s no surprise that he was among the first United players to be taken off. Didn’t get the chance to get forward as much as he usually does.
Matthijs de Ligt 7 – Very strong in the defence. Solid performance and barely gave the likes of Ayew a sniff.
Lisandro Martinez 5 – A reckless challenge on Ayew and also had a let-off early on but he grew from there and saw off the rest of the game comfortably. Slotted in at left-back when Dalot came off and didn’t put a foot wrong.
Noussair Mazraoui 9 – Calm and composure personified! He was brilliant at left-back and delivered a sublime cross for United’s second of the match. Picked up where he left off when he was shifted back to the right. Simply ran the show at Old Trafford and his fantastic form as a Red continues.
Manuel Ugarte 7 – Won nearly everything in midfield. Brilliant in his duels and tackles. Also covered the ground well, giving United legs in the middle of the park. Some poor passes in the first half but he corrected this in the second period.
Casemiro 5 – Decent performance but there were one or two unneeded sliding challenges.
Bruno Fernandes 9 – Involved in all three goals. A screamer for the opener, his touch forced an own goal for the second and registered an assist for Garnacho’s strike. Nice to see him contributing in front of goal once again and what a way to mark his 250th appearance for United.
Amad Diallo 8 – Incredible performance and showed why he should be regularly starting games. Excellent back-hell assist for the first goal. Almost got on the score sheet himself when he took on three Leicester defenders but sent his effort directly at the goalkeeper.
Marcus Rashford 4 – Didn’t impact the game as he barely posed any threat. Kept coming too central for some reason and much like Dalot, it was not surprising to see him hooked a few minutes after the restart.
Rasmus Hojlund 2 – A non-event of a match. Didn’t get a shot off and didn’t do anything really. Wout Faes had no problem against him.
Substitutes
Alejandro Garnacho 8 – Bright spark when he came on and produced a lovely curled finish to ensure all three points were secured.
