Pep Guardiola has chosen a very attacking Manchester City line-up to face Aston Villa this afternoon.

With just three defenders in Aymeric Laporte, Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker, on the pitch, Bernardo Silva and Rodri will be required to hold the fort in midfield ahead of Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland.

England centre-back John Stones, however, remains sidelined as he continues to recover from a thigh injury.

De Bruyne was benched for tactical reasons in the defeat at Tottenham last weekend but comes back into the team this afternoon in place of Julian Alvarez.

Dias also returns in defence after he was left on the bench against Spurs. Nathan Ake drops out as Rico Lewis makes way for Walker at right-back.

Gundogan is brought back into midfield with Bernardo in a deeper role.
