Officials at Manchester City have made a significant breakthrough in their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, according to new reports.

The 25-year-old Egypt international forward has emerged as the Premier League champions’ number one target for the ongoing January market, as the club also eyes moves for a number of new faces in defence alongside the aim of a central midfielder.

Manchester City believe 2025 is the year of a new generation in Pep Guardiola’s first-team side, with a large group of the current squad reaching their natural conclusion in Sky Blue after a hugely successful period with the club.

The futures of Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, and Jack Grealish could all be in doubt over the coming months, with the Belgium international and German midfielder both out of contract at the end of the season.

And as part of that refresh to bring about a period of major change in the final two years of Pep Guardiola’s contract, Manchester City have started work almost at the first opportunity, with one of the Bundesliga’s standout performers in Omar Marmoush closing in on a move.

According to the information of Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Manchester City and Omar Marmoush have now reached a full verbal agreement over personal terms, with the 25-year-old wanting a move to the club ‘immediately’.

It is further detailed that Eintracht Frankfurt have also been informed of the development, and the Bundesliga side expect a first offer from Manchester City by the upcoming weekend at the latest as they continue to demand an €80 million fee for the forward.

Further reporting from Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger has also revealed Eintracht Frankfurt’s dressing room is now aware of Omar Marmoush’s desire to leave the club for Manchester City this month and that the Bundesliga side themselves are preparing for the exit.

Manchester City are also hard at work hoping to bring in two identified central defensive names in the coming weeks, with Palmeiras’ Vitor Reis and Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov understood to be clear first-team options.

The Premier League giants believe the former is ready for immediate first-team action under Pep Guardiola despite turning 19-years-old this weekend, while Khusanov has been excelling in Ligue 1 for a sustained period attracting interest from the English top-flight and La Liga.

A triple signing of all names within this article would likely take Manchester City’s January spending to over £100 million, with a new central midfielder not ruled out and no exits expected from the squad despite growing interest in James McAtee.
