Manchester City set sights on Real Sociedad star
Premier League champions Manchester City are expressing a keen interest in the signature of a member of the midfield ranks at Real Sociedad.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing English sources, who point towards Martín Zubimendi as the player in question.
The name of midfielder Zubimendi of course took its place centre stage in the transfer chatter over the summer, amid heavy links with a move to another of the Premier League’s leading clubs, in Liverpool.
In the end, the 25-year-old opted to rebuff such advances, in favour of staying put in San Sebastian.
But if the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, then Zubimendi’s English temptations may not have come to an end just yet.
As per the aforementioned MD, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are the latest club to express an interest in Sociedad’s engine room standout.
On the lookout for a replacement for long-term injury absentee Rodri, the board at The Etihad are understood to have set their sights on the Spaniard’s compatriot and international teammate, with a view to the January window.
It now remains to be seen whether or not Zubimendi is more open to the prospect of a move to Manchester than he was Merseyside.
