Manchester City’s first January transfer spotted on flight to Manchester ahead of medical and contract signing
The first arrival into Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad this month has been photographed en route to the North-West of England revealed by Brazilian media.
That concerns Vitor Reis, who is expected to become Manchester City’s first signing of what is proving to be an increasingly active transfer window for the reigning Premier League champions, who are often quiet in the winter market.
City could make as many as four signings this month, with the 19-year-old Brazilian defender set to be joined by Abdukodir Khusanov in the coming days, while there are ongoing negotiations for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush.
Palmeiras reached an agreement with City bosses over a £29.5 million transfer for the versatile defender, despite their best efforts to do business now but retain the player until after the summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
Instead, Reis will join Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad immediately, with Manchester City confident that the player is ready for the lofty heights of English and European football without any transitional period.
Now, as per a photograph provided by Nosso Palestra, Vitor Reis began his journey to Manchester on Wednesday from Sao Paulo, and is expected to be with the Premier League champions on Thursday ahead of medical tests and the formal signing of documentation.

City Xtra understands that the teenager is travelling alongside immediate family and will make a brief stopover in Lisbon, before arriving in Manchester later on the same morning via a private jet.
Manager Pep Guardiola is yet to publicly comment on matters involving Vitor Reis, and it remains to be seen whether the defender will be available for selection this weekend when Manchester City travel to face Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday afternoon.
Games are coming thick and fast for Manchester City in an unrelenting schedule across competitions, and as such a full first-team debut for Reis in the Sky Blue shirt of the club will not be too far away.
