Manchester City discover FA Cup fourth round opponents following completed draw
Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have now discovered their opponents for the fourth round of their now-ongoing FA Cup campaign.
The reigning Premier League champions will be hoping to further improve their chances of silverware for another season, particularly in light of a run of form that has largely seen their hopes of a fifth consecutive top-flight title fade away.
Manchester City made it to the FA Cup final for a second consecutive season during the previous campaign, having dismissed of Huddersfield Town, Tottenham Hotspur, Luton Town, Newcastle United, and Chelsea en route to Wembley.
However, the final would be too much to ask for, as a relatively lacklustre performance following a fourth successive Premier League title win a week prior saw first-half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo put Manchester United in a controlling position.
It would be the perfect revenge for Erik ten Hag and his players at the end of the last campaign, having lost at the same stage of the competition to Manchester City just 12 months prior, as Pep Guardiola’s side went on to complete a historic Treble.
City will be hoping that the FA Cup is one of a number of trophies to be claimed in 2025, with their Premier League title hopes hanging by a thread at present, the UEFA Champions League being an ever-present focus, and a revamped FIFA Club World Cup returning next summer.
And the third round kicked off their road to Wembley in staggering fashion as a heavily-rotated Manchester City side put eight goals without reply past League Two side Salford City, including a hat-trick from James McAtee.
The attacking midfielder was joined by a brace from Jeremy Doku, while there were also goals for Jack Grealish, Divin Mubama – on his Manchester City debut, and Nico O’Reilly, who was operating in an unfamiliar left-back role.
Now, as City look to make it all the way to the FA Cup final once again, it has been confirmed that Pep Guardiola and his players will take on either Leyton Orient or Derby County in the fourth round of the competition!

When will FA Cup fourth round matches be played?
The FA Cup fourth round fixtures will take place over the weekend of Saturday 8 February 2025.
