Manchester City have now discovered their opponents for the group stage of the new, revamped, and expanded FIFA Club World Cup hosted by the United States.

Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to retain their title first claimed in Saudi Arabia back in December 2023, having defeat Urawa Red Diamonds and Fluminense in the Middle-East off the back of UEFA Champions League success in Istanbul.

Manchester City cruised to victory in both affairs held in Saudi Arabia’s city of Jeddah, defeating Urawa Reds 0-3 in the semi-final stage of the competition, and 4-0 against Fluminense in the final.

The 2023 edition of the FIFA Club World Cup was the final tournament put together in the old format, with global football’s governing body opting to revamp the entire competition and expand it to 32-teams, with 2025 to be hosted by the United States.

Ahead of the competition kicking-off once again, Premier League champions Manchester City have now discovered their three opponents for the group stage of the tournament next summer, with the draw having been completed in Miami, Florida.

As such, it has now been confirmed that Manchester City have been placed into Group G, where they will face CLUB (COUNTRY), CLUB (COUNTRY), and CLUB (COUNTRY).

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup tournament will take place from 15 June to 13 July 2025, with a total of 12 venues used to host 63 matches across the United States, with the final played at MetLife Stadium in New York and the opening match at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

The tournament’s full match schedule – including stadiums and kick-off times – will be finalised and published in due course.

FIFA have stated that the process will be “taking into account a range of factors including sporting and player-centric criteria, local and travelling fans and global broadcast considerations”.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will feature a group stage composing of eight groups of four teams per group playing in a single-game round-robin format, and the top two teams per group progressing into the round of 16.

From then, a direct single-match knockout stage from the round of 16 to the final will take place, with FIFA also confirming that there will be no third-place play-off match at the competition.
