Manchester City confirm Savio signing, officially ends Girona hopes of second loan spell
Earlier this year, strong reports emerged of Manchester City’s intention to sign Savio from Troyes, a fellow member of the City Football Group. The 20-year-old took La Liga by storm last season with a string of excellent performances for Girona, and that has now officially earned him a move to the Premier League champions.
On Thursday, Man City made Savio’s signing official. He’s signed a five-year deal, and the expectation is that he will remain with Pep Guardiola’s squad for the upcoming 2024-25 season at the very least.

Girona had hoped to re-sign Savio for their inaugural season as a Champions League club. However, their chances have now been put to bed – not because of Man City’s intention to keep the Brazilian attacker, but because of their affiliation with the Premier League giants.
UEFA rules forbid any transfer activity taking place between Girona and Man City this season because of the clubs’ shared City Football Group ownership. It also means that the Catalans cannot re-sign Yan Couto, who was another integral member of Michel Sanchez’s squad during the 2023-24 campaign.
