Manchester City confirm 21-man travelling squad to face Paris Saint-Germain in UEFA Champions League
Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have confirmed a 21-man travelling squad to make the trip to France this week on matchday seven of the UEFA Champions League.
The reigning Premier League champions are somewhat finding their groove as the New Year is in full swing, going unbeaten since Boxing Day and putting greater pressure on the English top-flight’s current top-four contingent.
As for their hopes in European competition, matters are far more complex and City know that they must record a win in their next two matches to give them some hope of a play-off place for the tournament’s last-16 stage.
It was a rout on the road last time out for Pep Guardiola and his players as they demolished newly-promoted side Ipswich Town at Portman Road thanks to a brace from Phil Foden, as well as goals from Erling Haaland, James McAtee, and Mateo Kovacic.
The small matter of the English top-flight’s fourth-place team is up next for Manchester City as they host Chelsea in the Premier League, immediately after Wednesday night’s clash in the French capital.
As for the Champions League, the meeting with Luis Enrique’s PSG will be followed by the final matchday of the competition’s league phase with Belgian giants Club Brugge the visitors on matchday eight.
Before then, Manchester City have confirmed a 21-man travelling squad that left Manchester Airport on Tuesday afternoon for the French capital of Paris!
