Manchester City have completed the signing of Vivianne Miedema from Arsenal on a three-year deal.

Miedema is the all-time record goalscorer in the Women’s Super League and arrives at the Citizens following seven prolific seasons with Arsenal.

The Dutch international won the WSL Golden Boot in back-to-back campaigns in 2018-19 and 2019-20 and claimed the FWA Women’s Footballer of Year in the second of those seasons. She has also twice led the Champions League for goals.

At international level, the 27-year-old has a record 95 goals in 118 games for the Netherlands and will join Dutch teammates Jill Roord and Kerstin Casparij in Gareth Taylor’s squad as the Citizens look to improve on last season’s runners-up finish.

“The reason I chose City is because they have the same ambitions as me. They want to win the league and titles,” the forward told the club’s official website.

“Looking to the future, I’ve always said I want to play with best players in the world and I think City have got that.

“I haven’t played as much football as I would have wished over the past two years, but I think and hope my best years are still to come. I hope I’m going to be able to help the team as much as I can do.

“I am just really excited to be part of the team and for the girls to hopefully help me and get me back to my best. If I get back to my best again then we can achieve really nice things together.”
