Premier League champions Manchester City are likely to field interest in a loan agreement for Luke Mbete from Turkey this summer, according to a new report.

The Manchester City Academy graduate has been featuring consistently for the club during the pre-season tour of the United States, with Josko Gvardiol being the only senior central defender available to Pep Guardiola in warm-up fixtures.

Even in the case of the Croatian international, the 22-year-old returned late to duties following an extended holiday in light of European Championship involvement, and is expected to feature more at left-back when required.

As such, Luke Mbete has been granted opportunities to impress, working the central defensive role alongside the likes fo Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Callum Doyle, both of whom have earned rave reviews from onlookers.

However, this may be an audition for Mbete ahead of transfer market interest, with the latest report pointing towards interest from the Turkish game ahead of a possible season-long loan move to the country.

That is according to the information of Ajansspor journalist Salim Manav, who claims that Turkish Süper Lig side Trabzonspor will make a loan offer for Manchester City’s rising academy centre-back, Luke Mbete this summer.

Any loan move away from the Etihad Stadium would become Luke Mbete’s fourth successive temporary agreement in senior men’s football, having endured two deals in the English Football League before heading to the Netherlands for experience.

Huddersfield Town and Bolton Wanderers marked the start of Mbete’s time in the senior men’s game, having experienced mixed performances at both clubs, before a season with Den Bosch in Holland preceded his ongoing work alongside Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad.

It is highly likely that Mbete will be one of several young Manchester City players heading out on temporary agreements next season, with Callum Doyle among the names expected to leave, with Norwich City widely tipped to be his next destination for a season.
