Aston Villa are closing in on the capture of the Levante full-back Andres Garcia.

The West Midlands club are signing him in a deal worth around €9.25 million. The 21-year-old is highly rated across Europe, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the Villans.

They need to add more quality and depth through their defensive unit, and Garcia would be a long-term addition. He is capable of slotting into the role of a wing-back as well as a winger. His versatility could be a bonus for Aston Villa in the long term.

The defender will look to hit the ground running in English football and prove himself in the Premier League. He has shown his quality in Spanish football, and there is no doubt that he has the attributes to succeed in England.

Aston Villa have an ambitious project and a quality squad at their disposal. They have a proven manager like Unai Emery as well. It is no surprise that the 21-year-old is open to joining them. This could be a major step up in his career and he will look to test himself at the highest level.

Levante manager Julian Calero has now claimed to Superdeporte (h/t SportWitness) that the player’s move away from the club is 99% done. Meanwhile, reports claim that the deal could be made official soon.

“I am happy for the group. I do not want pessimism to set in. Of course, if players leave in the market we will not like it. Andrés is 99% out. But we will regroup and move forward.”

It remains to be seen whether he can hit the ground running in English football. He will be competing with Matty Cash for the starting spot and he will look to establish himself as a key player for Emery.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa will be hoping to secure European qualification for the next season and the right additions in January will certainly help them finish the season strongly. They are currently seventh in the league table.
