Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri is in talks with Greek side Panathinaikos over a summer exit from Old Trafford, a report has revealed.

United paid around £9m to sign Pellistri from his native Uruguay in 2020 but the winger, who turns 23 in December, has managed just 25 senior appearances for the Red Devils and has instead spent time out on loan with Alaves and Granada.

Now in the final 12 months of a contract which does include a one-year extension clause, Pellistri is available for transfer and Fabrizio Romano notes that negotiations between United and Panathinaikos are at an advanced stage.

Panathinaikos' interest in Pellistri was first revealed earlier this summer by Giannis Chorianopoulos, who noted that the winger was not convinced by a move to Greece at the time.

There have been plenty of sides linked with Pellistri this summer. Bologna and Besiktas have both been touted as potential suitors, but perhaps the strongest competition for the winger's signature comes from Real Valladolid, where manager Paulo Pezzolano has openly admitted his desire to get a deal done.

"He would be a very important player," Pezzolano told Estadio Deportivo.

"We talked about many names and one of them, without a doubt, is him. I think it could benefit him a lot to be with us, although there are financial details that can or cannot be given.

"We know that it is not easy for us. I love him, but I have not dared to call him because I want him to give his best with the national team, although I suppose his representative will have sent it to him.

"Arriving at a team like ours in the pre-season, adapting well to the group, knowing that he comes to an intense, dynamic, vertical team when he goes outside...he can show off a lot when stepping into the area."
