Paris Saint-Germain have named their price for Manchester United target Manuel Ugarte after receiving an initial bid from the Red Devils.

According to the Times journalist Duncan Castles, the Ligue 1 giants have told United that it’ll take an offer of around £50 million to sign Ugarte this summer.

PSG are looking to recoup their initial investment in the midfielder after paying a similar fee to sign him from Sporting CP last summer.

The French giants are open to selling the midfielder after just 12 months, but only if United match their asking price.

United have made Ugarte their primary target to reinforce their defensive midfield, with Casemiro poised to leave the club this summer.

United were initially keen to sign Portuguese wonderkid Joao Neves from Benfica, but their £85m asking price put off the Red Devils.

They had two bids rejected for Neves, and with PSG now in pole position to sign him, United have withdrawn their interest in the 19-year-old to focus on signing Ugarte.

PSG have made a substantial bid worth £76m plus a player to sign Neves, and United have decided against matching their proposal.

The Red Devils have already submitted an opening bid worth £38 million plus add-ons for Ugarte, but PSG are holding out for a fee closer to £50m.

The Copa America star wants to leave the French capital after a difficult adaptation period, and PSG’s bid to sign Neves could help him secure an exit.

Considering United have limited funds to spend this summer, it remains to be seen if they’ll match PSG’s demands, but Ugarte would be a decent replacement for Casemiro.

The 23-year-old started in 21 of his 25 appearances last season. He provided two assists and won 53% of his total duels.

United have already agreed a deal to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, and his former Bayern Munich teammate Matthijs de Ligt could join him at Old Trafford.
