Man Utd star has already ‘promised’ Serie A giants he will join in January
Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly given his word to Napoli who are keen to sign him before the end of the January transfer session.
The Partenopei have agreed to sell their ultimate star Khicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain in a deal that could reach €75 million. Therefore the Southern Italian club has identified Garnacho as the ideal profile to replace the departing Georgian on the left wing of Antonio Conte’s 4-3-3 formation.
The Argentine broke onto the scene during Erik ten Hag’s time at Old Trafford, establishing himself as a regular starter despite his tender age. However, his status at the club took a big hit upon Ruben Amorim’s arrival, as he lost his starting berth in the coach’s 3-4-2-1 system, with Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo occupying the two spots behind the striker.
But according to Neapolitan newspaper Il Mattino (via AreaNapoli), Man Utd and Napoli still have a big gap to bridge in their ongoing negotiations. The Serie A giants have reportedly put €35 million on the table, while the Red Devils are holding out for €55 million, thus raising their initial asking price.
Alejandro Garnacho promised Napoli to join them in January
But while Napoli will be looking to table a new and improved bid in the coming days, it will likely fall short of United’s price tag.
Nevertheless, the Italians are counting on Garnacho’s desire to join them, with the report claiming that the winger has already given his word to Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna.
Hence, the source believes the three-time Scudetto winners will continue to monitor the situation closely and pick the right timing to launch one last decisive onslaught, as they did in the summer with Scott McTominay who has now become a staple at the Maradona Stadium.
