Man Utd can finally sign Dumfries for bargain fee, he wants to move to Old Trafford –

Manchester United are likely to reinforce their full-back positions ahead of the 2024/25 season.

A left back is a priority due to Tyrell Malacia’s injury issues, while a right back could also be pursued, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka likely to be sold.

Wan-Bissaka has entered the final year of his contract. The Athletic has confirmed he has turned down a move to West Ham United due to his desire to join Inter Milan.

The 26-year-old is open to signing for the Nerazzurri this summer or as a free-agent when his contract expires in June next year.

Intermediaries have discussed the idea of a swap deal involving Wan-Bissaka and Denzel Dumfries which would be a good business for the Red Devils.

Dumfries is reportedly interested in making the switch to Old Trafford.

Dumfries would suit playing style under Erik ten Hag

Wan-Bissaka struggled for minutes during the first half of last season amid injuries.

However, he got a significant amount of playing time towards the back end of the campaign as Diogo Dalot started regularly at left-back.

United are now exploring signing a left-back to provide back-up to Shaw. Wan-Bissaka could also make way as the club would not want to lose him for free next year.

Wan-Bissaka could be used as a makeweight to sign Dumfries, who is valued at £25-30 million by the reigning Serie A champions.

Dumfries has played as a right wing-back during his time at the San Siro. He scored four goals and provided six assists from 1,965 minutes last season.

The 28-year-old played at right-back for the Netherlands at the 2024 European Championship. He was brilliant with his overlapping runs and induced an own goal from Turkey in the quarter-final.

Wan-Bissaka has better defensive attributes than Dumfries, but the latter would be perfect for Ten Hag with his fearless runs behind the defence and ability to provide key passes.

United could sign Dumfries for £10-15m if Wan-Bissaka (valued at £15m) is included as part of the deal.
