🚨 Man Utd confirm new deal for ten Hag and return of legend as assistant

Manchester United have confirmed Erik ten Hag has signed a new contract at the club and the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as one of his two new assistant managers.

The 54-year-old had just one year remaining on his previous deal, but has now put pen to paper on a new X-year contract

Go Ahead Eagles manager René Hake has also joined the backroom staff, but it is the United icon’s return to Old Trafford that will excite fans the most.

Van Nistelrooy previously played under Sir Alex Ferguson from 2001 to 2006, scoring a stunning 150 goals in just 219 appearances, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup, as well as multiple individual honours.

It is reported that the 47-year-old (48 on July 1st – change) turned down an approach from Burnley to become their new manager in favour of a second stint at his old club.

The Dutchman’s last role was with PSV Eindhoven, with whom he won the Dutch Cup in the 2022/23 season.

The appointment of van Nistelrooy and Hake to ten Hag’s coaching team has come in line with his former assistant Mitchell van der Gaag departing the club, with it reported that he will now look to become a no.1 elsewhere.

The changes are the latest to take place at Old Trafford as INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe set about turning around the fortunes of the 20-time league champions.
