Man United yet to decide on going back for Sofyan Amrabat, might bring in free agent Adrien Rabiot instead

After improving the attack and defence, Manchester United are expected to focus on the centre of the park moving forward but due to PSR concerns, they are unlikely to spend as much.

Joshua Zirkzee became the first to arrive and his arrival means Erik ten Hag can arrange his attacking players in a number of different ways.

Lille’s 18-year-old defensive sensation Leny Yoro has also completed his medical and has been provisionally assigned jersey No 15.

United were reportedly eyeing Manuel Ugarte for the defensive midfield role but with the Red Devils struggling to offload Casemiro, their deal with Paris Saint-Germain is in danger of collapsing.

Midfielder hunt

They are open to making a loan approach but the chances of it being accepted by the Ligue 1 giants is remote as of now. Ten Hag has asked the new co-owners to bring back Sofyan Amrabat instead but as per Sky Sports, no decision has been taken as of yet.

The Moroccan struggled for the majority of his loan spell last season but produced a masterclass in the FA Cup final triumph and is desperate to re-join the 20-time English league champions.

INEOS are yet to be won over as they are keeping their options open. Adrien Rabiot, who is currently a free agent, remains a target.

“United are yet to make a decision on whether to trigger the permanent option for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

“And they are keeping an eye on Adrien Rabiot’s situation. They tried to sign the French international last summer – he is a free agent.”

Rabiot again

The France international was close to sealing a move to The Theatre of Dreams in Ten Hag’s first season before wage demands meant the move stalled and Casemiro joined instead.

The club went back for the former Juventus star last summer as well but he chose to stay back in Turin. Currently, his mother and agent Veronique has been offering the 29-year-old’s services to clubs in the Premier League.

While Rabiot still has a lot to offer, bringing him as the lone defensive midfield option is not the right step. If Christian Eriksen is sold, a move for the former PSG star makes sense.

Ideally, United need more than one midfielder this summer, but whether INEOS can solve all the problems in one window remains to be seen.
