Manchester United are targeting Wolverhampton Wanderers pair Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha.

Old Trafford had to suffer yet another frustrating afternoon when Brighton and Hove Albion ran out deserved 3-1 winners yesterday.

Ruben Amorim commented after the match that this was probably the worst team in United’s history and it is abundantly clear that the team is in desperate need of additions.

United have many holes to plug but two of the most obvious are left wing back and striker as Diogo Dalot continues to prove he cannot play at the top level in this position from a defensive or attacking sense.

Moreover, while Joshua Zirkzee has outperformed Rasmus Hojlund lately, the Red Devils still require attacking signings to help their flailing attack.

The Independent report that “Manchester United are looking at Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri as an alternative at left-back.”

“Ruben Amorim has made the position a priority this January as he seeks tactical balance for his team”. The club has also shown interest in Amorim’s former player Nuno Mendes at Paris Saint-Germain.

Nonetheless, a deal for the Portugal international is considered too expensive at the moment, both because of the €60 million price tag and “vast wages”.

There have also been reports that he may be considering signing a new deal at the Ligue 1 leaders.

Due to the complexity of the deal, United have begun to look at alternatives and Ait-Nouri has come up on the side’s radar.

Despite a tough season for Wolves as a team, the Algerian has impressed and the 23 year old “has shown an aptitude for playing at both left wing-back and left-back in his time for Wolves, with Amorim appreciating his flexibility as well as his movement.”

United also hold an interest in his teammate Matheus Cunha but “face considerable opposition” due to his fantastic form in this campaign.

Arsenal are reported to also be interested in doing a deal for the Brazilian but Wolves have no interest in selling in January as they are currently locked in a relegation battle.
