Man United injury problems mount as Harry Maguire delivers update

Man United have been dealt another injury blow after Harry Maguire confirmed that he will be out for “a few weeks”.

The defender picked up an injury towards the end of the first half of their goalless draw with Aston Villa on Sunday and was replaced by Matthijs de Ligt at the break.

“Frustrated to pick up an injury at the weekend, will be a few weeks on the sideline for me but I’ll come back stronger,” Maguire posted on social media.

Man United confirmed that the 31-year-old sustained a muscle injury during the game and will be sidelined for several weeks. He is set to miss upcoming games against Brentford and Fenerbahce.

It was the centre-back’s sixth start of the season in all competitions, but just his third in the Premier League.

Maguire is not the only injury concern for Erik ten Hag heading into the international break, as Noussair Mazraoui, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo all picked up injuries.

Lenny Yoro, Luke Shaw, and Tyrell Malacia are all long-term absentees, while Mason Mount is also on the treatment table after suffering a head injury in last month’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
