Man United hoping to Osimhen in January as Galatasaray identify Spurs star as replacement
Manchester United are plotting a major raid in January, as they look to lure Gatalatasaray bomber Victor Osimhen to Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old rose to fame during his time at Napoli, and while he remains on the Italian club’s books, he was sent to Turkiye on loan in September after failing to seal a permanent move earlier in the summer.
The Nigerian has likely played his last game for Napoli, as his rapport with the club’s volatile president Aurelio De Laurentiis is probably irreparable at this point. And with Galatasaray highly unlikely to maintain the striker beyond his season-long loan stint, his future remains shrouded in mystery.
So according to Il Mattino, Man United are looking to pounce on the situation and bring in Osimhen in January. This would be an immense reinforcement for the club’s attacking department which currently hosts the likes of Marcus Rashford, Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.
However, the Neapolitan newspaper warns the Red Devils of potential competition coming from the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, while Chelsea could also reignite their interest in the player they reportedly pursued last summer but to no avail.
Man United hoping to sign Victor Osimhen in mid-season
While Galatasaray have secured a loan agreement with Napoli valid until the end of the season, the player’s stint in Istanbul would be terminated if another club ends up activating the striker’s €75 million release clause.
In this case, the Turkish champions would go headhunting for a direct replacement who could be Tottenham captain Heung-min Son whose contract with the Spurs will expire at the end of the season. This is according to the Turkish portal Fanatik.
Interestingly, the South Korean star is yet another name that is currently linked with a move to Old Trafford.
