Man United bound? Atlético Madrid chief departs after 12 years
A long-time member of the board at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid has this weekend brought a close to his stint with the club.
The individual in question? Andrea Berta.
Berta, for his part, has been plying his trade behind the scenes in Spain’s capital since all the way back in 2013.
First appointed to the position of Technical Director, the Italian was subsequently promoted to Sporting Director in 2017.
Berta has been widely hailed for his work with Atlético, having played an important role in building a squad which secured two La Liga titles under the watch of Diego Simeone.
After recent reports that the two parties were discussing a potential parting of ways, however, Berta’s exit, on Sunday, has been confirmed.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:
‘Director Andrea Berta has officially left Atlético Madrid, after spending 12 years at the club.’
