Man Who Massacred Family of 4 After Accusing Teen of Exposing Himself Gets Life Without Parole

Majorjon Kaylor admitted to killing Kenneth Guardipee, 65, Kenna Guardipee, 41, Devin Smith, 18 and Aiken Smith, 16, last June

An Idaho man has been sentenced months after he admitted to killing four family members who were his neighbors, according to multiple reports.

A judge sentenced Majorjon Kaylor, 32, on Monday to life without the possibility of parole in the 2023 killing of the Kellogg, Idaho family, KREM 2, the Shoshone News Press and CDA Press report.

Kaylor pleaded guilty in December to charges of four counts of second-degree murder for fatally shooting Kenneth Guardipee, 65, Kenna Guardipee, 41, and teenagers Devin Smith and Aiken Smith in June 2023, per CDA Press and The Spokesman Review.

A few days before the murder, Kaylor claimed that Devin, 18, had indecently exposed himself to Kaylor’s wife Kaylie and their children, PEOPLE reported previously, citing law enforcement documents.  

Kaylor reported the incident to the police, who have maintained that they responded appropriately to the accusations.  

“We responded to the call, investigated the call, and the report was done that day and submitted to the prosecutor’s office for charges,” Chief Paul Twidt told the Associated Press at the time. “I stand by what my officer did, and he did everything he could at the time. Nobody could have foreseen anything like this.”

Kaylor reportedly felt that police had not investigated appropriately, and indicated he would take matters into his own hands if needed, according to the judge, as reported by The Spokesman Review.

Devin suffered from mental illness, for which he was getting support from his family, according to his uncle, the outlet reported.

An affidavit previously reviewed by PEOPLE states that Kaylor shot Devin multiple times at close range, and shot the rest of the family once.

Per the affidavit, Kaylor told authorities he "snapped" and "lost it," the affidavit noted at the time.

A judge admonished him Monday for the brutal killings.

“You took your firearm and you chose to execute them,” the judge said, per The Spokesman Review. “You knew it was unlawful and you chose to do it. Most case law deals with one victim, not four. This is beyond what we typically see, even in the criminal justice system.”

In a GoFundMe set up for the family after the murders, Kenna's friend stated that the whole family did not deserve what happened to them, claiming that Aiken paid a steep price for an alleged crime he "had nothing to do" with.

“They were good people. They did not in any way deserve for their whole family to be wiped out,” the fundraiser stated.

It also stated Kenna was a single mother and that the family did not get to “share their side of the story.”

At the sentencing hearing on Monday, David Silva, the children's grandfather, lamented the loss of "three generations" of his family, per The Spokesman Review.

"An entire legacy was completely destroyed,” he said, per the outlet.
