Man City Comeback Serves as Inspiration for PSG Ahead of Stuttgart Clash
Paris Saint-Germain can secure their place in the next round of the UEFA Champions League with a win against VfB Stuttgart. After a dramatic comeback victory over Manchester City, Luis Enrique’s side holds its fate in its own hands heading into Wednesday night’s clash.
PSG found themselves 2-0 down early in the second half against Manchester City but responded in stunning fashion, scoring four unanswered goals to claim a 4-2 victory.
Ousmane Dembélé started the comeback by pulling one back, followed by Bradley Barcola’s equalizer. From there, PSG took control. João Neves put them ahead in the 78th minute with a close-range header from a well-worked set piece, and Gonçalo Ramos sealed the win with a goal confirmed by VAR.
Now, the Ligue 1 side needs just one more win against the German club to move on.
Comeback win over Manchester City fueling PSG
Heading into Matchday 8, PSG defender Lucas Hernández spoke about how the comeback against Manchester City last week is fueling the squad regarding their motivation to punch their ticket to the next phase of the Champions League.
“I remember the team’s resilience in turning the game around, scoring once, then twice, and eventually securing the win,” Hernández told the media on Tuesday. “It was a massive performance, and it should give us even more confidence to go for another victory in Stuttgart tomorrow.”
