Man arrested after taking ax to family belongings because he thought his wife had damaged his action figures

A 34-year-old man who thought his wife had damaged his action figures and retaliated by taking an ax to the family’s car, TV and laptop has been arrested.

The man, whose name has not been released, used a log-splitting ax to destroy the items inside his Wisconsin home on Sunday night, when his wife wasn’t there, local NBC affiliate WMTV reports.

He then moved outside, chopping both side mirrors off the family car and striking the windshield with such force that the ax became stuck, police said.

“When officers arrived, they found the ax embedded in the windshield of the car,” said Madison Police Chief Mike Koval.

The husband then called to report himself, according to Koval.

“The suspect called 911 himself because of his actions in response to drinking too much and then overreacting when believing his wife had damaged some of his prized property,” he said.

He was arrested and faces charges of disorderly conduct and felony damage to property.

Police say he caused more than $5,000 in damages.
