Malone double as Glenavon beat Swifts at Stangmore
Jack Malone scored twice as Glenavon came out on top 3-2 against Dungannon Swifts in a thrilling Irish Premiership game at Stangmore Park.
David McDaid found the net at the second attempt in the 28th minute and Malone fired into the corner to extend the Lurgan Blues' advantage just before half-time.
John McGovern's penalty two minutes after the break reduced the hosts' arrears and Andy Mitchell's header from a Steven Scott cross with 25 minutes remaining levelled the score.
Malone rifled home a sweetly-struck right-foot finish in the 80th minute to secure the three points for Paddy McLaughlin's side.
The result means second-placed Dungannon could be overtaken by Glentoran and Portadown should they win their respective games against Larne and Linfield as part of Saturday's five-match top-flight programme.
Glenavon remain 10th in the table with a fourth Premiership win from five matches but they move seven points clear of Carrick Rangers below them in the standings and within striking distance of a congested middle of the table above them.
