Major Blow For Inter Milan – Key Midfielder Out With Injury Until February & A Doubt For Derby Clash Vs AC Milan
Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will be out with injury until February, and is a doubt for the derby against AC Milan.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the Turk will take a few weeks to recover after tests confirmed a slight calf strain.
Calhanoglu underwent tests with Inter’s medical staff today.
These confirmed that the 30-year-old has suffered a slight strain to the soleus muscle of his right calf.
That is a separate injury from the thigh problem that had forced Calhanoglu off in the first half of the Supercoppa Italiana final against AC Milan.
Hakan Calhanoglu Out Until February – In Doubt For Derby Clash Vs AC Milan
Sky report that this injury will rule Calhanoglu out for a little while.
Initially, the Turkish international had been targeting a return as soon as this Wednesday’s Serie A clash with Bologna.
The thigh problem that Calhanoglu had sustained during the Supercoppa would have allowed for such a timeline.
However, the timeline is significantly different for the new injury that Calhanoglu has picked up.
Sky report that the calf strain will require Calhanoglu to take a few weeks to recover.
That means that the 30-year-old will not be able to return to the pitch before the end of January, the broadcaster anticipate.
That means that Calhanoglu will miss a number of matches for Inter.
The Nerazzurri have three Serie A matches and two in the Champions League before the end of the month.
Then, Inter’s first match of February is a big one. They face AC Milan in the second league derby of the season.
And Calhanoglu’s recovery for that match would be very much up in the air, reports Sky.
