Mainz to sign Montpellier winger Arnaud Nordin

Mainz are closing in on signing Montpellier winger Arnaud Nordin (26), reports Le Parisien. An agreement is reportedly close to being reached between all parties. Nordin will be out of contract next June. The former France U21 international was not part of Jean-Louis Gasset’s Montpellier matchday squad on Sunday with La Paillade clinching a second consecutive Ligue 1 win against Toulouse FC. The former Ivory Coast national team manager confirmed that Nordin was on his way out.

Minor details still need to be ironed out between Mainz and Montpellier before the Ligue 1 club allows Nordin to fly out to Germany and undergo his medical. Nordin joined Montpellier from Saint-Etienne on a free transfer in 2022. He has logged 19 goals and 10 assists in 75 games played with Montpellier. The outlet understands that Nordin was the subject of interest from English and French clubs as well as Mainz’s Bundesliga rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach.
