“Made contact again” – Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham remain keen on €90m forward
Tottenham Hotspur made new contacts with Paris Saint-Germain yesterday for striker Randal Kolo Muani, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 26-year-old is of interest to Spurs after struggling under Luis Enrique. He does not fit the mould of what the Spanish manager wants and has been urged to find a new stomping ground.
Kolo Muani has managed only two goals in 14 appearances this term and generally failed to shake off the stigma from missing that World Cup final chance, but there is a top player in there.
Enrique is a difficult human to work with, as evidenced by run-ins with other PSG and Barcelona stars. Also, the French striker has shown glimpses of his talent in France following his €90 million move from Eintracht Frankfurt. He is still a handful for any defence but needs a change of environment to find his groove.
Kolo Muani can play across the frontline and will give Spurs additional firepower for the remaining half of the season as the team chases an elusive trophy and perhaps a top-four finish.
However, Spurs are not alone in the mix for his signature. Juventus also made contact with PSG for the striker. The Italian giants also recognise that he is a potential bargain deal. Manchester United showed interest too.
Spurs should be quick with a move for Kolo Muani – View
Tottenham must act decisively to secure Kolo Muani ahead of Juventus and Man Utd. With his versatility and untapped potential, he fits the profile of a player who can thrive under Ange Postecoglou.
He can provide adept back-up for Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, and Son Heung-Min. He will also help phase out the ineffective Timo Werner.
Spurs want silverware and a top-four finish and must make bold moves, and adding Kolo Muani could provide the cutting edge they have lacked since Harry Kane’s departure.
The Juventus interest only raises the stakes, but Spurs have a unique opportunity to offer the Frenchman a fresh start in a league that suits his physical and technical attributes. Missing out on him would be a gamble Spurs cannot afford.
