Dominik Szoboszlai has admitted that he is an AC Milan fan after he was spotted wearing the shirt at full-time after Tuesday night’s Champions League meeting.

The Hungary international was on the winning side as Milan began their 2024-25 Champions League campaign with a defeat, losing 3-1 at San Siro against Liverpool to further ramp up the pressure on the head coach Paulo Fonseca.

Having been denied not long before, Szoboszlai did get the third goal that put Liverpool in command. A slack pass from Pavlovic into the midfield was seized upon to start a three-on-one break, with Gakpo squaring to the former Red Bull Salzburg man who volleyed in off the far post.

Interviewed by DAZN, Szoboszlai admitted that the reason that he wanted to wear a Milan shirt when the game was over was because he has been a fan of the club since growing up.

“Why did I wear the Milan shirt? Because I’m a Milan fan, all my friends know that. In my house in Budapest there is a photo of me with Paolo Maldini when my grandmother took me to meet him,” he said.

Szoboszlai was linked with a move from RB Salzburg to Milan every summer starting from the proposed ‘Ralf Rangnick revolution’ to even the mercato one year ago, but now he seems at home at Anfield.
