Lunin, Asencio to start: Real Madrid predicted lineup against Celta Vigo

Real Madrid return to the Santiago Bernabeu for the first time this year and the stakes are high as they lock horns against Celta Vigo in the Copa Del Rey knockout stage.

Carlo Ancelotti will surely be making some changes and it will be interesting to see the lineup for this fixture.

Here is how Real Madrid can lineup against Celta Vigo.

GK: Andriy Lunin

An unexpected start for the Ukrainian. Has kept three cleansheets in six matches this season and will be hoping to improve his record in this game.

No backup option for him and it will be yet another start for Vazquez. Would hope that it’s not another difficult night for him.

CB: Raul Asencio

Will deservedly start this match. Has shown his class throughout this season and has an opportunity to do so yet again. It’s an important game and he would be eager to strengthen his place in this squad.

He has some on going knee issues and would hope that it is not as grave. Needs to put the Barcelona performance behind him and look up to what’s ahead of him. Perhaps the best centre-back duo for Real Madrid starts tonight.

LB: Fran García

Not world class but has been really good and proven his worth to be a Real Madrid player this season. Has not made as many mistakes defensively and offers a lot going up front. Has the ability to make pinpoint crosses and make oppositions uncomfortable.

CM: Fede Valverde

Despite a poor outing in the last match, he will be eager to turn the tide and show what he is capable of. Will cover for Vazquez too at right-back.

Also decent against Barcelona. These are the types of matches where he has the opportunity to shine and make the most of it.

CM: Luka Modric

The veteran midfielder may receive a start instead of Jude Bellingham who may be on the bench despite training only for a day prior to the match. Luka has been a crucial player coming off the bench this season but this is a start and he would be eager to show everyone why he is still one of the best.

Did not do much in the last match but has shown his class multiple times this season. Has the ability to single handedly create an attack out of nowhere and would be eager to do so again tonight.

Needs to keep up his form from the previous match. The Bernabeu faithful will be behind him and hopefully he repays their faith tonight. Will have a pivotal role to play if Real Madrid are to win.

Will be suspended for the next two league fixtures and as a result will be a constant starter in cup competitions till then. Had an assist against Barcelona but other than that, tried too hard and wanted to do everything on his own. Needs to be at his best alongside Mbappe tonight.
