Italian media praised Napoli after a 4-0 win against Cagliari, and even if he didn’t get his name on the scoresheet, Frank-André Zambo Anguissa was the MOTM, according to Gazzetta.

Napoli are the Serie A leaders after four rounds. Sunday’s 4-0 away win in Cagliari allowed Antonio Conte’s men to go one point clear of Inter, Juventus, and Torino, who were held to stalemates over the weekend.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Romelu Lukaku and Alessandro Buongiorno scored in Cagliari, but according to Gazzetta, the best player on the pitch was Cameroon international Anguissa.

‘He put in a high-level performance, consistent and dominating, which included 12 recoveries,’ wrote Gazzetta.

Anguissa was rated 7.5/10, the same as Lukaku and Alex Meret who produced key saves on Roberto Piccoli, Razvan Marin and Sebastiano Luperto.

The Azzurri coach Conte was rated 7/10. The Italian tactician achieved a third consecutive victory for the first time since February 2023.

‘He used the great potential of his team and gave playing time to new signings. Top of the table and growing,’ was the Gazzetta comment.

As per Corriere dello Sport, Lukaku was the MOTM at the Unipol Domus. The Belgian scored one goal and provided two assists and was awarded by Lega Calcio as well, with the official Man Of The Match award.

“The important thing is that the team wins,” Lukaku told DAZN after the game.

“We know every game is like a final from here to the end of the season, so we’ll see where we are at the end. Now we rest and go again.”

The Belgium international also thanked Meret: “He saved the team against Parma and again today, it’s important to have a quality goalkeeper like this. We strikers have to put the ball in the net and we’re happy.”
