Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider Training Together in Germany

Just one month left before the season, Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider are still restricted free agents. While there's still time for the Detroit Red Wings to sign them in time, the players are gearing up for the season — together.

Raymond and Seider spent time this week training in Mannheim, Germany, alongside skating coach Andreas Larsson. The players both posted pictures of their training sessions on Instagram, and so did Larsson.

If Red Wings fans want to see Raymond and Seider anywhere, it's Detroit — more specifically, behind a desk putting signatures on the contracts their stardom has earned. At least, that's what a number of fans expressed to the athletes in post comments. For now, seeing the players working together on the ice is a respectable consolation.

Together, Raymond and Seider have seen their careers tied closely together since they both broke into the NHL together in the 2021-22 season. At 22 and 23, respectively, Raymond and Seider are both young stars who serve as pillars of the Red Wings' rebuild. They were two of the most important players on the team in 2023-24, with Raymond leading with 72 points and Seider playing nearly 300 minutes more than anyone else.

As they mature even further, they project to continue playing big roles for Detroit including taking up some leadership duties according to coach Derek Lalonde.

For now, until they're signed, Raymond and Seider can only continue to train as they work out contract details. Maybe soon enough, they'll be practicing together on a sheet in Traverse City.
