LSU Coach Kim Mulkey Wears a Basketball Hoop as Her Latest Courtside Ensemble: 'I Need to Get an NIL Deal'
The legendary coach, 62, turned heads by donning a 3D basketball goal, complete with basketball netting for a skirt, for the Tigers' game against Auburn on Sunday, Jan. 5
Kim Mulkey is giving new meaning to the term hoop skirt!
The LSU women’s basketball coach — who is known for her outlandish courtside couture — donned a basketball net around her waist on the sidelines for the team’s game against Auburn on Sunday, Jan. 5.
For the matchup, Mulkey, 62, wore a black sweater that featured a basketball and its backboard on the front, red pants, and a red belt that looked like a basketball rim, which gave way to a frayed basketball-netted skirt.
The eye-catching outfit complemented her players’ overall effort. The No. 6 Tigers topped the other Tiger team, 73-63, to extend LSU’s winning streak to 17 games.
After the game, Mulkey offered a backstory about the backboard-and-net ensemble.
“I don’t shop, that was dropped off at the house, maybe Friday? And I wasn’t even there,” Mulkey told reporters.
She added, referencing the clothing brand: “They sell this stuff, Queen of Sparkles, I’ve told y’all. I need to get an NIL deal with them.”

While the legendary coach works on the potential side hustle, her dedication to her gameday fits are nothing new.
Among her past sartorial highlights, the Louisiana native has pulled off a sequin tiger print suit from Nadine Merabi, a St. Patrick’s Day-special "Kiss Me, I'm a Queen," green-stitched sweater, and a sparkly, rainbow sequin duster paired with black pants and a tight pink cami.
During March Madness in 2023, Mulkey drew attention for a green-and-pink tweed floral blazer with bright pink ostrich feathers running the length of her arms with white pants and electric pink pumps.
All of which means Sunday — which was also “Dress Like Kim Mulkey Day” for fans at Pete Maravich Assembly Center — was par for the course.
