The San Francisco 49ers clobbered the Los Angeles Rams and now they are set to take on the other team from the City of Angels – the Los Angeles Chargers.
Justin Herbert and the Chargers (5-3) will travel to Santa Clara, California in Week 10 to take on Jimmy Garoppolo and 49ers (4-4) on "Sunday Night Football" in another battle of Northern California vs. Southern California.
The 49ers are coming off a Week 9 bye after a dominant 31-14 win over the Rams, where San Francisco's new running back Christian McCaffrey became the first person since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2005 to record passing, rushing and receiving touchdowns in the same game. (Not bad for his second game in scarlet and gold.)
The Chargers will not only have to contain McCaffrey, but wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who is expected to suit up after sitting out Week 8 with a hamstring injury. The 49ers also lost cornerback Jason Verrett for the season after he tore his Achilles tendon in practice this week.
The Chargers, meanwhile, are also hobbled. Wide receivers Keenen Allen (hamstring) and Mike Williams (ankle) are not expected to play in Sunday's matchup.
