When and where is the Panthers game in Germany?

The Panthers will play the Giants (2-7) at Allianz Arena, home of football club Bayern Munich since the 2005-06 season. The kickoff is set for 9:30 a.m. ET; that’s 3:30 p.m. in Germany.

The game will technically be a home game for Carolina. That’s a double-edged sword. On the one hand, there are a whole bunch of fun fan activities the team has planned, and there are a bunch of traditions the Panthers will bring to Germany, a place the franchise has had marketing rights to since 2021. On the other hand, PSL owners had to pay extra to attend the home game, something that drew the ire of a bunch of fans when the news first surfaced.

The Panthers are 7-6 all-time against the Giants. Carolina is 3-1 at home, 4-5 on the road. Carolina won the only playoff game between the two teams.

It’s worth noting the Panthers have only played internationally one other time — in 2019, when they defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 37-26 win in London.

The Panthers-Giants matchup could feature some pretty good weather for mid-November. AccuWeather’s 10-day forecast shows a high of 48 and a low of 37 and a 1% chance of precipitation.

▪ The Bryce Young quarterback situation didn’t get any easier after the former No. 1 overall pick put together a decent day in a winning effort against the Saints, which included his first NFL game-winning touchdown drive. He finished 16 of 26 for 171 yards passing for a passer rating of 77.6. When asked if Young would start next week, with veteran QB Andy Dalton still on the mend from a thumb injury, Canales said he and his coaching staff have a lot of information to process.

▪ The quarterback situation in New York remained interesting on Sunday. Talk about highs and lows. The high? Daniel Jones was trending on Twitter for a moment on Sunday after playing well in the Meadowlands. The low? ... The fact that he was trending on Twitter for doing something surprising: playing well at home. The Giants boast the second-to-worst scoring defense in the league and are 26th in yards allowed. The Panthers aren’t much better. A shootout incoming in Munich?

▪ With the trade deadline looming on Tuesday, there are some roster shakeup possibilities before Sunday. Also worth considering: Will any of the Panthers’ players who are practicing but not yet activated on the 53-man active roster — Adam Thielen, Jordan Fuller, Jonathon Brooks, DJ Wonnum, etc. — see the field in Germany? That could drastically shape the outlook on the game. And in the case of rookie running back Brooks’ potential NFL debut, it could make it all the more intriguing.

The Panthers defeated the Saints and the Giants lost a closer one to the Commanders on Sunday, undoubtedly thumbing the scale of this matchup between two of the NFL’s weakest squads. Still, the opening lines are about what you’d expect.

The Panthers are 5.5-point underdogs, per FanDuel Sportsbook. The over/under is 41.5. A Panthers moneyline pick is at +200.

This line will almost certainly change in the lead-up to the week, particularly depending on what the Panthers decide to start at quarterback. Head coach Dave Canales indicated that Dalton would be the starting quarterback should his thumb be healthy, but second-year quarterback Young is coming off his best performance since Christmas Eve 2023.

The Panthers are second-worst in the league at 2-7 against the spread. The Giants are similarly bad at 3-7.
