A look at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup: 20 teams, 55 matches, two host countries

A look at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which runs June 1 to 29 in the United States and West Indies:

THE T20 GAME: Fast and action-packed, with matches lasting about 2 1/2 to three hours as teams bat for 20 overs (compared to 50 overs in a one-day international).

DEFENDING CHAMPION: England.

FIELD: Expanded to 20 teams this year. Debutants are Canada, Uganda and the U.S.

FORMAT: Teams are separated into four groups of five for the initial stage. The top two sides from each group then progress to the Super 8s stage, with the bottom three teams from each group eliminated. The eight remaining teams are split into two groups with the top two from each pool moving on to the knockout semifinals.

VENUES: Games will be played in Lauderhill, Fla., Dallas and New York in the U.S. Six different Caribbean nations will host matches, with semifinals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, and the championship game in Bridgetown, Barbados.
