Manchester United fans headed into the pre-season tour in hopes of gaining some much-needed respite after last season’s unprecedented injury crisis, yet are now anxiously awaiting updates on the conditions of two players.

Indeed, Erik ten Hag lost both Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro to fitness concerns last night as the Reds fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Arsenal in California.

Hojlund, debuting his new No.9 on the back of his shirt, opened the scoring inside 10 minutes at the SoFi Stadium, but after sprinting to get on the end of a cross from Aaron Wan-Bissaka, appeared to pull his hamstring.

He was swiftly replaced and sent straight down the tunnel for treatment before eventually being joined by Yoro, who was withdrawn around the 33rd-minute mark.

Yoro suffers setback in only his second United appearance

The young Frenchman – labelled ‘crestfallen’ by The Telegraph – sustained a muscle injury, leading him to be consoled almost immediately by counterpart Harry Maguire, as well as Amad Diallo and Hannibal Mejbri as he made his way off the pitch.

ESPN shared a video to X (Twitter) showing Yoro limping around the side of the pitch while in conversation with a member of the club’s medical staff.

Post-match, Ten Hag confirmed both players would need to undergo tests to determine the severity of their setbacks.
