Longo: ‘360-degree analysis’ needed as Milan can only see the Conference League
It has been a season filled with ups and downs so far, with last night’s against Atalanta being one of the latter, and a proper analysis is now ready. As highlighted by Daniele Longo, there are several culprits at play here.
Atalanta clinched an important win in the Scudetto race thanks to Ademola Lookman’s late goal, while Milan left yet another game with doubts and regrets. Between the two clubs, there is a clear gap in terms of organisation, conviction, enthusiasm and depth of the squad, as Longo highlights.
For Milan, the disappointment is great and a 360-degree analysis is now needed to understand how they ended up here. From option for Fonseca instead of a world-class coach, to signing the likes of Emerson Royal and Strajhinja Pavlovic, there are many culprits involved.
Furthermore, the poor attitude of certain players at the start of the season should not be forgotten either, as Fonseca had to work really hard to get everyone in line (Rafael Leao, for example). The manager has many faults, as Longo continues, but he’s not the only one responsible.
Currently, Milan are 12 points behind Atalanta in the league and the reality is that they can only see the Conference League at the moment. Even the Champions League seems like a very difficult target, which says it all.
