London Knights Landon Sim Suspended Indefinitely

Landon Sim, assistant captain of the London Knights, has been suspended indefinitely by the OHL while a review is conducted regarding events from the London versus Sault Ste. Marie game on Wednesday, Nov. 6 to determine the length of his suspension.

"As a result of conduct detrimental to the league," are damning comments in the OHL's tweet regarding Sim's suspension.

Sim was assessed a game misconduct at the end of the first period in their game against the Greyhounds.

With 1:11 left in the first, Greyhounds' forward Brady Martin stopped in front of London's netminder Austin Elliott after swallowing up his shot. The Knights cleared him out from the top of the crease but London defenseman Henry Brzustewicz did so a bit too aggressively, giving a jab to the face of Travis Hayes, which resulted in a minor penalty for roughing.

It's unclear what and why Sim said what he said, but you can see the referee motion over to London's bench and throw him out of the game at the end of the period.

At this point, it is important to recognize that any conclusions drawn will be speculative. It is possible that he was dissatisfied with the penalty assessed and expressed his discontent towards the referees in a forthright manner.

Or, it is possible that Sim was chirping at a Greyhounds player, and the referee heard something that violated the OHL's Code of Conduct, similar to the suspension received by Ethan Hay.

The London forward was at the center of controversy in the hockey world earlier this year in the OHL playoffs when the league suspended him for five games for calling an opponent a p---y.

Landon is an agitator, plays with a chip on his shoulder, and constantly chirps his opponents, but his comments on the ice are getting him into trouble with the league's policies.

*UPDATE: Sim has been suspended for five games.
"
Sim violated the OHL Code of Conduct as a result of a remark intended to provoke an opposing player that was marginalizing on both religious and cultural grounds."
