London Knights Complete Massive OHL Trade, Acquiring Washington Capitals Prospect Cam Allen From Guelph
The Guelph Storm are selling. They've made that clear over the last two days now after making another significant trade involving one of their best players.
Earlier in the week, the Storm traded away Vancouver Canucks prospect Vilmer Alriksson to the Brampton Steelheads. On Tuesday, the London Knights announced that they had acquired Guelph's number-one defenseman, Cam Allen, in exchange for seven draft picks and a young NHL draft-eligible defenseman.

Below are the full trade details between the London Knights and Guelph Storm:
London Receives:
RHD, Cam Allen: 2024-25 season statistics - 27GP, 7G, 18A, -5
Guelph Receives:

2025 3rd round pick (SAR)
2027 3rd round pick (NIA)
2027 4th round pick (ER)
2028 4th round pick
2028 5th round pick
Allen, 19, was drafted 3rd overall by Guelph in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. In his first season in the league, he scored 13 goals (most by a 16/17-year-old defenseman in Guelph's franchise history) and tallied 37 points, taking home honors of Rookie of the Year.
Although he struggled in his NHL draft season, the Washington Capitals still saw faith in him developing into an NHL player for their franchise one day, and selected him in the fifth round, 136th overall, in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
Last season, the GTHL Toronto Nationals alumnus battled injuries, forcing him to play only 25 games in the regular season. He didn't make his season debut until late January.
Allen is fully healthy this season and has been playing some of his best hockey on a struggling Guelph team. This trade allows the six-foot right-shot defenseman to chase an OHL Championship before he graduates to the professional rank next season.

He signed his entry-level contract with the Capitals in the summertime and recently attended Canada's World Juniors selection camp in Ottawa.

"Cam is a high-end defenseman in our league. He's a mobile, two-way player and we're thrilled to have him be a London Knight," said London Knights GM and Vice President Mark Hunter.
London's addition of Allen brings their roster to an impressive 12 NHL-drafted players. This move comes at a crucial time for the Knights, as their top two defensemen, Sam Dickinson and Oliver Bonk, are currently away from the team competing for gold with Team Canada in the 2025 World Junior Championship.
Once they are back, the Knights blueline will be one of the most fluid and dynamic bluelines in the OHL with Dickinson, Bonk, Allen, Henry Brzustewicz, and Jared Woolley.
