London City Lionesses announce departure of midfielder Littlejohn
London City Lionesses have announced the news that Republic of Ireland international midfielder Ruesha Littlejohn has left the club by mutual consent.
The Pride revealed news of Littlejohn’s departure via a post on their official club X account this afternoon.
The 34-year-old midfielder joined London City Lionesses on a free transfer in summer 2023. The midfielder was a member of the London City Lionesses squad which battled bravely to retain their Barclays Women’s Championship status last season. Littlejohn made 15 appearances for The Pride in the Barclays Women’s Championship in 2023/2024, scoring the only goal in the club’s home victory over Sunderland.
Given the level of investment made in London City Lionesses since the summer, this season has seen Littlejohn struggle for game time. With the player unlikely to get regular minutes in the second half of the season, London City Lionesses have agreed to the mutual termination of Littlejohn’s contract to allow her to pursue new opportunities.
Littlejohn has enjoyed a long playing career which has seen her represent no less than 13 different clubs. She has played her football in Scotland, England and Norway to date. It will be fascinating to see what the future holds for one of game’s long-serving players.
