Loanwatch: Jadon Sancho assists again and James Nolan is the hero for Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Some of Manchester United’s army of loanees were in action in England and Scotland this weekend.

James Nolan (Inverness Caledonian Thistle vs. Cove Rangers)

James Nolan made an instant impact for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, scoring his first goal for the club five minutes after coming off the bench against Cove Rangers.

The 18-year-old right-back’s initial shot was saved, but Nolan jumped on the rebound to hammer home the equaliser, securing a 1-1 draw and salvaging a point for Duncan Ferguson’s side.

Jadon Sancho (West Ham United vs. Chelsea)

Jadon Sancho’s bright start to life in London continued as he made it two assists in two appearances for Chelsea. On his first start for Enzo Maresca’s side, the 24-year-old teed up Nicholas Jackson to open the scoring in just the fourth minute and completed 90% of his passes, but lost possession five times.

He was replaced by Pedro Neto after 57 minutes.

Elyh Harrison (Rushall Olympic vs. Chester FC)

Young goalkeeper Elyh Harrison has made a strong start to life at Chester FC, where he has kept two clean sheets in four games. Chester came from behind to beat Rushall Olympic 2-1, taking them to second in the National League North.

Joe Hugill (Lincoln City vs. Wigan Athletic)

Joe Hugill toiled up front for Wigan Athletic as they played out a goalless draw at Lincoln City. He managed to get one shot away but only recorded 12 touches and four passes, three of which found their intended target, before he was hooked after an hour.

Tom Myles (Vauxhall Motors vs. Runcorn Linnets)

Another young United keeper making a name for himself on loan, Tom Myles kept a clean sheet for Runcorn Linnets as they ran out 1-0 winners over Vauxhall Motors. Their second win of the season, and third clean sheet, leaves them in 16th place in the Northern Premier League – West Division.

Tom Wooster (Farsley Celtic vs. Leamington)

Tom Wooster returned from injury to keep goal for Farsley Celtic for the fourth time this season, but the National League North side fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Leamington.

The 19-year-old made four saves but was unable to do anything about a looping header which proved to be the difference between the two sides. He saw a lot of the ball and attempted 20 passes, but only 11 of them found their man.

19-year-old Sonny Aljofree is still waiting for his first appearance at Accrington Stanley, and Rhys Bennett will be hoping to feature for Fleetwood Town against Morecambe tomorrow night after his 91st-minute strike took his side’s Carabao Cup game against Stoke City to penalties earlier this week.
