Nacho Ferri grabbed his fifth goal of the season to rescue a point for Kortrijk in a 2-2 draw with bottom of the table Beerschot. The away side, under returning head coach Yves Vanderhaeghe, were losing 2-1 with just under 10 minutes to go. Ferri, who has scored four goals but only in two matches this season, was able to grab a crucial equaliser that keeps them within touching distance of safety.

For Beerschot, this is another weekend in which their lack of ability to close out games has cost them dearly. Just a few weeks ago they dropped a point against Anderlecht with a late goal from Anders Dreyer. This time around they had responded to a Abdoulaye Sissako opener to turn things around. Captain Thibaud Verlinden was the catalyst, grabbing an assist for Antoine Colassin’s opener before scoring his first goal of the season. Last year the former Stoke man scored five goals and grabbed nine assists as Beerschot won promotion to the top flight.

The result means that Beerschot remain bottom with just 12 points from 19 games, while Kortrijk are a few places above them with 18 points from their 19 games. The Kerels are four points off of safety, while Beerschot look set to remain in the bottom four for the rest of the season with a 10 point gap.
