Liverpool XI vs Luton: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Premier League game today

Liverpool head into tonight’s Premier League clash against Luton without Diogo Jota, Alisson Becker and Curtis Jones, while Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah are also sidelined.

After he was stretchered off in the first half of the 4-1 win over Brentford on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp has now confirmed that Jota will be missing for “months”.

"With Diogo it will obviously take about months. With Curtis... It's with the injuries as well you have important days. Day five, day 10 are important days when you judge the situation again because nobody reacts in the same way,” Reds boss Klopp said.

“Curtis got a knock on the lower part of his shin, or above the ankle.

“We will see what that means. It was what he felt, but he was not 100 per cent sure. That Curtis cannot play on tells you that it must be something because he would have played on at all costs.”

Jones also misses Wednesday night’s Premier League clash and is also expected to sit out the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea this weekend, having also come off in the first half at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Nunez is similarly not involved against Luton after he was replaced at half-time on Saturday, but that is not believed to be a serious issue.

Klopp said Salah was experiencing fatigue in the hamstring that he injured while away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt last month and he is back on the sidelines tonight, with no risks taken with Wembley looming.

Liverpool are already without Trent Alexander-Arnold due to a knee issue, while Caoimhin Kelleher continues in goal with usual No1 Alisson ruled out with a muscle injury.

Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Stefan Bajcetic are longer-term absentees, giving Klopp plenty to ponder as his side look to stay in pole position in the title race and lift a first trophy of the season over the next few days.

Dominik Szoboszlai is not involved against Luton but could feature in the Carabao Cup final.
