Liverpool vs Bayern Munich LIVE!

Liverpool’s unbeaten pre-season run came to an end after a thrilling 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich after Frans Kratzig netted a stunning stoppage-time winner.

The Reds made the perfect start in Singapore, as Cody Gakpo fired them in front inside two minutes after a lovely one-two with Diogo Jota, before Virgil van Dijk, confirmed as the club’s new permanent captain this week, rose highest to head home from a corner. That lead did not make it to half-time though, Serge Gnabry, halving the deficit after a brilliant ball from Kim Min-jae, before Gnabry then squared for Leroy Sane to equalise just under ten minutes later.

Plenty of changes were made in the second-half and one of those was the introduction of Luiz Diaz, who restored Liverpool’s lead after getting on the end of Mohamed Salah’s pass inside and finishing well. Again Liverpool were pegged back though, their defending costing them. Matthijs de Ligt’s header from a free-kick was parried out by Alisson, but straight into the path of Josip Stanisic who had a simple task with the rebound. The match looked to be heading towards a penalty shootout, before Kratzig’s lashed a strike into the top corner beyond a stunned Alisson.

Liverpool now head home from Singapore, only one pre-season match to come.

That’s against Darmstadt on Monday, with the match taking place at Deepdale, Preston’s stadium.

Then it’s all eyes on the serious business, the small matter of a trip to Stamford Bridge on the opening weekend of the Premier League season. Just 11 days to go until that one.

FT: Liverpool 3-4 Bayern

14:26 , Matt Verri

And that is full-time.

Bayern win a thrilling clash in Singapore, Kratzig’s wonderful finish the difference in the end.

Liverpool with plenty of positives in forward areas... less so at the back.

GOAL! Liverpool 3-4 Bayern | Frans Kratzig 90+1'

14:22 , Matt Verri

That’s a stunning winner!

Ball over the top, Kratzig lets it bounce and then smashes the strike into the top corner. Alisson can’t believe it.

14:21 , Matt Verri

90 mins: Both sides pushing plenty of players forward, so much space out there. Bayern go close at one end, ball drilled across the face of goal.

Doak then leads the Liverpool counter, skipping away from the challenges. Nunez is free at the back post, can’t quite pick him out.

14:18 , Matt Verri

87 mins: Corner for Liverpool, Doak continues to make a real impression out on the right. Impressive cameo so far.

That’s not particularly impressive from Tsimikas, really poor delivery.

14:15 , Matt Verri

84 mins: That should have been another goal, big chance for Nunez.

Diaz with great footwork, sets up Nunez but he can’t get the ball out of his feet properly and it’s a tame effort in the end.

14:14 , Matt Verri

83 mins: Reminder that this will go straight to penalties should it finish level after 90 minutes. No extra-time, don’t worry.

The way both sides have defended, wouldn’t at all be a surprise if we get more goals though!

GOAL! Liverpool 3-3 Bayern Munich | Josip Stanisic 81’

14:12 , Matt Verri

Level again!

De Ligt’s header is parried out by Alisson, straight to Stanisic though and he has a simple finish. Poor defending once more from Liverpool.

14:10 , Matt Verri

79 mins: Great run from Doak out on the right, cuts the ball back and Clark is running onto it in the box.

Strike is decent enough, straight at and almost through the goalkeeper, but it’s claimed as the ball spins towards the line.

14:08 , Matt Verri

77 mins: More Liverpool changes, as Van Dijk hands the armband to Alisson.

Quansah, Doak, Clark, McConnell are all introduced, with Van Dijk, Szoboszlai, Jones and Salah brought off.

14:05 , Matt Verri

74 mins: Free-kick out wide for Bayern, up come the defenders.

Not a great delivery though, Tsimikas is there at the near post and he can clear the danger.

Bayern swiftly back on the attack though, Alisson with a great save to deny Gravenberch.

14:02 , Matt Verri

71 mins: Back up and running after a water break.

Pace of the match has just slowed down a bit now, to be expected with the heat and all the changes that have been made.

GOAL! Liverpool 3-2 Bayern Munich | Luis Diaz 66'

13:58 , Matt Verri

Liverpool back in front!

Lovely goal too. Ball out to Salah on the right from Diaz, the Egyptian drives inside and plays the pass inside.

Diaz’s first touch takes him beyond the defender, and he then fires a finish low into the back of the net.

13:54 , Matt Verri

63 mins: Six Bayern changes. Goretzka, Gravenberch, Mazraoui, Stanisic, Kratzig and Ibrahimovic all on. Laimer, Musiala, Upamecano, Pavard, Gnabry and Davies replaced.

Liverpool meanwhile play Nunez in down the right, goes for goal from a very tight angle and can only find the side netting.

13:52 , Matt Verri

61 mins: Poor pass from Alexander-Arnold, very lucky Bayern don’t punish him. Van Dijk has to boot the ball out for a corner.

An hour played and that means we’re about to get a load of changes. Gomez, Tsimikas and Elliott on for Liverpool, replacing Alexander-Arnold, Robertson and Gakpo.

13:49 , Matt Verri

58 mins: Davies vs Liverpool continues.

The Bayern left-back picks Alexander-Arnold as his next victim, pulled back and dragged off his feet. Not sure how he’s avoided a yellow card there.

13:48 , Matt Verri

57 mins: Jones robs Musiala of the ball and Liverpool can burst forward on the counter.

Worked nicely, comes to Szoboszlai and he fires straight at the goalkeeper.

Davies then charges up the pitch with yet another driving run, Liverpool not really appreciating the pace he is bringing to the match. Gakpo clips his heels, yellow card shown.

13:44 , Matt Verri

53 mins: Coman in behind this time, gets the shot away but Alisson is out quickly to save.

Applause on the sidelines from Tuchel, his side have started this half so well.

13:43 , Matt Verri

52 mins: Outrageously good from Coman, bursts past Robertson and then chops inside as the left-back slides in and is beaten for a second time.

Coman drives into the box, looks to fire it low into the six-yard box but the red shirts are back to clear. Frenchman has been really bright since coming on at the break.

13:41 , Matt Verri

50 mins: Nunez fouled out wide, decent position for Liverpool to whip a cross into the box.

Robertson does just that, brilliant delivery and Nunez flicks the header beyond the far post. That was a good chance for the forward.

13:39 , Matt Verri

48 mins: De Ligt and Coman introduced at the break for Bayern, with Min-jae and Sane off. Ulreich has replaced Sommer in goal too.

A couple of early Bayern corners, Van Dijk wins the header and Jones completes the job.

Back underway!

13:36 , Matt Verri

Second-half has begun in Singapore.

Changes at the break as you’d expect. Konate, Diaz and Nunez are on for Liverpool, with Matip, Mac Allister and Jota the three to make way.

13:32 , Matt Verri

Interesting to watch Trent Alexander-Arnold in that first half.

Starting at right-back rather than in midfield, and he played pretty much as a convential full-back for much of the half.

Began to invert a bit more as the match went on, but he’s struggled t get on the ball overall.

Goal from the skipper!

13:26 , Matt Verri

HT: Liverpool 2-2 Bayern

13:20 , Matt Verri

That is half-time - concern for Liverpool as Mac Allister goes down a few seconds before the referee decides to blow the whistle.

Robertson indicating he took a blow to his knee, so the midfielder will receive some treatment on that.

Mixed half for Liverpool. They looked good in attack, but spent much of the 45 minutes out of possession and were increasing vulnerable at the back.

13:18 , Matt Verri

45+1 mins: Two minutes added on. Glare from Van Dijk towards the referee as a free-kick is given against him.

Will be interesting to see how many changes we get at the break. New season only 10 days or so away now, so KIopp will want to test the fitness of his side.

13:16 , Matt Verri

44 mins: Bayern should really be in front!

Liverpool looking ragged at the back now, Tel played in and he fires straight at Alisson. Reds could do with half-time.

GOAL! Liverpool 2-2 Bayern | Leroy Sane 42'

13:14 , Matt Verri

Bayern level it up!

Played wide to Gnabry, he drives into the box and squares for Sane, who makes no mistake when completely free at the back post.

13:09 , Matt Verri

38 mins: Gakpo wins a free-kick for Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold standing over it, too far out for a shot.

It’s clipped to the back post, Gakpo not far away from getting on the end of it but it’s headed away to safety. Liverpool continue to look dangerous from set-piece.

13:07 , Matt Verri

36 mins: Another Liverpool corner, here come Van Dijk and Matip again.

It’s Van Dijk who wins the header once more, nodded down into the ground and it bounces up nicely for Sommer to claim.

GOAL! Liverpool 2-1 Bayern | Serge Gnabry 33'

13:05 , Matt Verri

Bayern get one back!

Sensational pass from Min-jae, whipped inside Alexander-Arnold from deep and Gnabry is in.

He chops inside, and drags a finish past Alisson. Gnabry could well have been offside, but no VAR here.

13:02 , Matt Verri

30 mins: That goal will really frustrate Tuchel, his side had been on top but now they find themselves two goals down.

So far, so good for Liverpool. Solid at the back and ruthless up front.

GOAL! Liverpool 2-0 Bayern | Virgil van Dijk 28'

13:00 , Matt Verri

The captain scores!

Corner whipped in, Van Dijk allowed far too much space and he powers a header home. Liverpool double their lead.

12:57 , Matt Verri

25 mins: Another Bayern corner coming up, as Matip blocks Gnabry’s low cross.

Headed out again and Liverpool are away on the break, Jota poking the ball through to Salah. Unfortunately for Liverpool, it’s Davies back on the cover. No further comment needed.

12:54 , Matt Verri

22 mins: Time for a quick water break, very hot and humid evening in Singapore. As ever.

Plenty of promise early on for Liverpool, more defensive since then but they’ve looked solid enough out of possesison.

12:52 , Matt Verri

20 mins: A lot of niggly fouls already in this match, good pace to it too. Certainly not your typical pre-season encounter.

Liverpool spending a lot of time without the ball since that brilliant opening five minutes, being pushed back by Bayern.

12:49 , Matt Verri

17 mins: Sane drifts inside onto his left foot, feel like Liverpool should probably be expecting that.

Works it to the other flank, Davies bombing forward again and Van Dijk has to get across on the cover to concede a corner.

12:46 , Matt Verri

14 mins: Much better from Bayern, who are seeing plenty of the ball now.

They lose it there though, as Jones pounces on a heavy touch and gets absolutely clattered by Laimer in the process.

12:43 , Matt Verri

11 mins: Should be 1-1!

Ball to the back post, Jota beaten this time and it’s nodded back across goal. Falls to Pavard, and he somehow fails to score from a few yards out.

That has not improved Tuchel’s mood, it would be fair to say.

12:42 , Matt Verri

10 mins: Bayern corner, they’re starting to finally come into this match. Van Dijk scuffs the ball behind.

Jota and Mac Allister combine to head it away, but Bayern stay on the attack and Gnabry’s shot is deflected away for another corner.

12:40 , Matt Verri

8 mins: Kimmich basically catches the ball, but the referee decides that isn’t handball. Interesting.

Liverpool completely dominant, but Davies leads the Bayern counter and he gets them right up the pitch in about three seconds. Liverpool get back too though, force Bayern all the way back.

12:37 , Matt Verri

5 mins: Tuchel is screaming at his players on the touchline, not impressed at all with what he;s saying.

Bayern are lucky they’re not 2-0 down, the defence is an absolute shambles in the early stages.

Ridiculously high line and Jota is away, squares it to Salah but his shot is blocked. Not enough pace on the pass to him.

GOAL! Liverpool 1-0 Bayern Munich | Cody Gakpo 2'

12:35 , Matt Verri

Some start!

Gakpo played in down the left after a lovely one-two with Jota, he has Salah up with him but goes by himself and hammers a finish past Sommer!

KICK-OFF!

12:32 , Matt Verri

We are up and running!

Here we go...

12:30 , Matt Verri

Players are out onto the pitch in Singapore, near enough a sell-out for this high-profile clash.

You’ll Never Walk Alone is played and judging by the number of scarves that have gone up, it’s Liverpool who have more of the support in the stadium.

Warm-ups done!

12:27 , Matt Verri

Bayern set for a more competitive clash...

12:22 , Matt Verri

Bayern Munich got their pre-season schedule up and running earlier this summer with a 27-0 win over Rottach-Egern. Felt a bit cruel.

It’s been more challenging since then though, with Man City getting the better of Thomas Tuchel’s side a week ago. Similarly competitive encounter expected here.

“We have to do all the dirty work"

12:14 , Matt Verri

New season almost here!

12:07 , Matt Verri

This is Liverpool’s penultimate pre-season fixture, with just a match against Darmstadt on Monday to come before the serious business begins.

That game will take place at Deepdale, Preston’s stadium, due to work continuing at Anfield, with those renovations to be concluded before Liverpool’s first home match of the season against Bournemouth on August 19.

Klopp: We have to do something in midfield

11:50 , Matt Verri

Jurgen Klopp says it is “clear” Liverpool need to strengthen their midfield even further this summer.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have both arrived at Anfield, but the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson mean that more business is expected.

“It’s definitely important to strengthen in midfield,” Klopp said. “We have to do something, that is clear.

“We are working on solutions. First people want changes, now everyone is worrying about the changes. We are really optimistic about it. Excited as well.”

Klopp laughs about Mbappe rumours

11:08 , Matt Verri

Jurgen Klopp has dismissed talk of Liverpool attemping to sign Kylian Mbappe, but joked he would be open to a “surprise” move from the club.

It has been claimed claimed that Liverpool are in talks with PSG over a shock loan move for Mbappe, one that would ensure there is not a toxic season ahead in PSG and leave him free to secure his dream transfer to Real Madrid at the end of the campaign.

“We laugh about it,” Klopp told Sky Germany.

“I can say that I think he’s a really good player, but the financial conditions don’t suit us at all. I wouldn’t like to ruin the story now, but as far as I know, there’s nothing to it.

“But it’s possible that someone else from the club is preparing something and wants to surprise me, but that hasn’t happened in the eight years that I’ve been here. That would be the first time.”

Two good teams in promising form playing out a competitive pre-season friendly should be an entertaining watch with little to split them.

3-3 draw.

Bayern Munich team news

10:38 , Alex Young

There will be no reunion for Sadio Mane today after his move from Bayern to Al Nassr was confirmed on Tuesday. Thiago is another missing out with the Liverpool midfielder injured.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Thomas Muller have joined Manuel Neuer and Raphael Guerreiro on the treatment table.

Yann Sommer is still with the squad despite strong links with Inter Milan. New signing Kim Min-jae is in line to make his second appearance.

Liverpool team news

10:28 , Alex Young

Virgil van Dijk will this afternoon likely wear Liverpool’s captain armband for the first time on a permanent basis after being officially confirmed as Jordan Henderson’s replacement earlier this week, with Trent Alexander-Arnold his vice-captain.

Elsewhere, Curtis Jones returned to the team after helping win the U21 European Championships earlier this summer for the win over Leicester. The midfielder could continue against Bayern, with new signing Dominik Szoboszlai also available following his recent ankle strain.

Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic and Conor Bradley are all out but Jurgen Klopp has largely a full squad from which to choose. Alisson Becker is expected to start in goal as Liverpool look to extend their unbeaten record in pre-season.
