Liverpool have shown their true thoughts on one of their up-and-coming talents with an extreme transfer stance. Jarell Quansah is set for the top.

It's been reported this summer that Newcastle United asked about signing Jarell Quansah from Liverpool. That was a part of the deal to get Anthony Gordon to Anfield - a move that failed in the end.

Liverpool, though, were never going to include Quansah in the deal. While something was actually agreed involving Joe Gomez, it appears Quansah was completely off the table.

The Athletic reports that Liverpool's stance on the 21-year-old is that he's not available 'at any price'. They're not willing to deal Quansah at all, and it's a stance that shows just what they think about the centre-back.

Quansah set for the top

Rewind a year and little was made of Quansah. He was a part of the squad in preseason but coming off a half-season spell with Bristol Rovers, few expected him to have any sort of impact.

An impressive preseason turned into a place in the first-team squad, however. A couple of opportunities then grew into Quansah holding down the spot next to Virgil van Dijk at the back.

Jurgen Klopp ended his spell as boss by picking Quansah regularly over Ibrahima Konaté and Gomez. It's something that certainly felt impossible when the campaign kicked off.

But Quansah just kept impressing and actually forced his way into England's provisional squad for Euro 2024. There aren't many players who can enjoy that kind of rise in one year.

Liverpool quite plainly recognise that. They're not willing to capitalise on the hype with an expensive sale after just one year - they can't Quansah for the long-term. They want to see what he can do in two, three, four years from now.

It's something of a blow to Quansah that after such an incredible year, he's left needing to impress the manager all over again. Liverpool have little doubt that he can do that under Arne Slot, though.

He's going nowhere but to the top at Anfield.
