In October, a report surfaced that Paris Saint-Germain have identified River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono as their top transfer target, with plans to activate his €40 million release clause.

However, this fee could increase to €45 million in the final ten days of a transfer window. While PSG are keen, Diario AS journalist Eduardo Burgos highlighted that Manchester United are also closely tracking the young Argentine.

Other major European clubs, including Barcelona, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea, are said to be monitoring Mastantuono as well. ESPN Argentina added that Manchester United appear especially determined to sign the teenager and are preparing a bid for January.

According to Defensa Central, Liverpool are ready to activate Mastantuono’s £37.3 million release clause at River Plate in a bid to outpace Real Madrid for his signature.

Last month, Mundo Deportivo reported that a Barcelona scout was at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires watching Mastantuono in the Copa Libertadores, which would have been River Plate’s semifinal second-leg contest on Oct. 29 against Atletico Miniero.

This 2024 season, Mastantuono has made 41 appearances across all competitions for River Plate, scoring four goals and recording three assists.
