📝 Liverpool round off pre-season with double-header at Anfield

Liverpool rounded off their pre-season with two games at Anfield on Sunday. Here is what went down.

Reds held by Las Palmas on second time around

The second match of the day saw a completely different Liverpool lineup walk away frustrated in a 0-0 draw with Las Palmas.

Andy Robertson returned to action after completing his rehab, while Arne Slot handed Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo their first pre-season outing.

The Reds dominated inside Anfield with 16 shots and 61% possession but were left with their heads in their hands as chances failed to materialise.

The best chances of the night arrived when the Uruguyan striker had a goal ruled offside before the Scotsman had a shot hit off the inside of the post.

Slot will certainly look to Liverpool’s earlier game in the day as a blueprint for their Premier League opener.

A resounding win over Sevilla

Scorers: Jota 31′, Luis Diaz 40′ 45+1′, Nyoni 68′; Peque 66′

Arne Slot named what amounted to his best possible side in the first game with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister all playing.

It was Salah who went closest to opening the scoring midway through the first half as he cut inside on his left-foot but curled an effort just wide of the far post.

But it was fellow forward Diogo Jota who did break the deadlock on the half hour mark as the Portugal international finished off Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross.

Luis Diaz then doubled their lead just moments later as he fired into the top corner from the edge of the area.

The Colombia international netted his second of the afternoon just before the break as he finished neatly.

A raft of changes were made at half time and that made the second half a little more disjointed.

Sevilla eventually pulled a goal back just after the hour mark but their hopes of a comeback were dashed as Trey Nyoni came off the bench and scored the Reds fourth.
