Liverpool WILL now have chance to sign £130k winger they've wanted for years

Liverpool will get their chance to sign a winger they’ve chased for some time this summer. Will they take that chance, though?

Teamtalk reports that Federico Chiesa will be offered to 'Premier League clubs' this summer - though, there's no suggestion of who exactly that is. Chiesa's agent is searching for a big payday for his client and feels he can find it in England.

Chiesa is on the move, it seems, with new Juventus manager Thiago Motta willing to let him leave. Offers from AS Roma and  Napoli haven't been what they're after. Nowhere near, in fact.

The Italian clubs have put around £4.5m per year on the table. Chiesa and his agent are chasing around £6.8m, however. That's the kind of money only Premier League clubs offer consistently.

It works out to around £130k per week. For context, only eight Liverpool players earn more than that (per Capology) and it's more than what Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Andy Robertson earn.

More tellingly, it's well over double that of Luis Diaz's wages. Diaz is still on his initial contract at Liverpool where he signed for £55k per week.

The Colombian has been linked with a move away, though, and Chiesa would be a natural replacement. But with that kind of rise in wages, does it even make sense?

Should Liverpool sign Federico Chiesa?

Liverpool have been linked with Chiesa since his Fiorentina days. Teamtalk references that, while reports in Italy suggest there's still interest this summer.

We find that hard to believe, given the apparent wage demands. Selling Diaz - which would have to happen to even half justify a signing - and then signing a player who's on higher wages but isn't actually as good makes next to no sense.

We'd be shocked if this one happened. A few years ago, maybe this would have been a magnificent signing. In 2024? Liverpool have better options in their squad as it is.
